SUZY STARLITE - 1966 - DEBUT SOLO ALBUM - PREORDER LIMITED EDITION 180g VINYL
Born in the Year of the Fire Horse — bold, untameable, lit from within — 1966 is the debut solo album from Suzy Starlite: bassist, vocalist, visual artist and composer. Written by candlelight with an acoustic guitar, and recorded at Supertone SonicLab on the Atlantic coast of Portugal. Nine original songs, all music and lyrics by Starlite herself. Every word is from a female perspective. Nothing borrowed, nothing manufactured.
Rooted in the DNA of 80s new wave and art-pop — the bass-forward melodicism of Blondie, the emotional directness of the Pretenders, the dark undertow of Siouxsie Sioux and Alison Moyet — this is a record that lives entirely in the present. Made now. Fully alive.
The instrumentation is as singular as the songs: Mellotron, Sequential Prophet 5, Moog Opus 3, Waldorf STVC, Philips Philicorder, and Starlotron alongside Starlite's driving bass and lead vocals. Courageous in its craft, uncompromising in its vision.
Gatefold Limited edition 180g vinyl
A separate master of 1966 was created especially for vinyl by Jon Astley (The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Porcupine Tree and Debbie Harry)
Lacquers cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road, London. England (The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, The Police, The Cure, Roxy Music, Siouxsie and the Banshees and OMD).
Pressed in finite quantities. All pre-orders are signed. The first 20 vinyl pre-orders worldwide will have their names in the liner notes as Founding Supporters.
